We at Rhys Review are still all very upset that Cardiff Pride was cancelled this year due to COVID restrictions. Instead of the fabulous festival we usually have, the nightclubs in the local area hosted smaller events so instead of one big celebration there were multiple smaller ones. I have so many great memories from attending the pride celebration in Cardiff and if you haven’t been before it’s a massive party where everyone is able to express who they truly are which makes for a very joyous atmosphere. Instead of attending the annual festival, we travelled up to London to attend a family pride event hosted by the fabulous Mama G (which you can read all about at https://rhysreviews.com/2021/07/06/mama-gs-family-pride-celebration/) which is where I met and interview the queen of crumble herself Lorraine Bowen (which if you haven’t already you can watch our interview at https://youtu.be/fjQ6-CJF2oA) Hopefully next year I will be able to attend both pride celebrations in London and in Cardiff as not only are they so much fun but you also meet some of the most amazing people who all support/love however you choose to express yourself! As the event in Cardiff was cancelled this year it has left us thinking about next year and specifically what to wear to the return of pride! So far we have selected a jacket, shoes and now due to our newest partnership with Luna Aquila, I also have a wonderful range of earrings and bracelets that will help me to celebrate the most fabulous time of the year!

This marks our third earring based product reviews on our site and we still have one kind of important issue … I don’t have my ears pierced! However, what I do have is a very handy adapter that turns any pair of earrings into clip ons so that I am able to wear/model them with ease! This is what the circular, glittery, silver buttons are in the photos and these are not included in the products from Luna Aqulia but instead are products that I personally already own. It is clear that this wonderful company are incredibly supportive of the LGBTQ+ community as the range of products I was sent by them all have a heavy focus of being proud and mostly incorporate the rainbow in one way or another! They are always looking for a way to support the community especially any potential drag queens who are looking for a pair of earrings to complete a look. I recently wrote about how difficult it is to become a drag performer and the need for a show that would support these people (which you can read at https://rhysreviews.com/2021/04/01/ru-paul-drag-race-legendary-children-special/ so to have a company that so openly and practical supports someone’s dream is fantastic! This will be by third earrings review (the most recent one being for Geek Shop available at https://rhysreviews.com/2021/07/27/im-a-geek-store-product-review/) and those pieces were small features that added a little bit of camp to any look whereas these from Luna are a lot bigger! These are much more like statement pieces that would work well alongside an already over the top outfit.

The first pair that I tried on was the hopped earrings that had fabulous stones dripping from them. This was a much more of elegant design that plays into a much more traditional style of drag due to the rainbow jewels that have been used. As the stones themselves are hanging off a larger hoop this does add an extra layer of movement when you are on the go for that added bit of drama! This would be a pair that you would wear when you are trying to impress others with your opulence usually in your finest sparkling ball gown! I don’t know what it is about beads but they always feel very joyous and sentimental for me which I why I really enjoyed the beaded triangle pair that had a hanging moon and star respectively in each pair. These were the sort of pair that you would expect a super fun, art teacher to wear which (apart from the art specialism) I would like to think is the vibe I give off every day! This was a fantastic selection for me as not only did they contain a sense of childlike whimsy but also contained all the drama that I would like to have in my day to day life!

I was also sent two wonderfully gorgeous “proud” bracelets both with different bead substitutions. One looked as if it was made with a range of colourful diamonds whereas the other with rainbow pebbles. I personally preferred the thicker stones as I like the feel of weighted bracelets (despite not actually being that heavy) but both were comfortable to wear and continued the fabulousness of all the products. If you wanted to you could wear a pair on each wrist which would help to create an asymmetric rainbow look and add multiple interesting elements to your outfit! My favourite item in this bundle however would have to have been the hooped earrings that had a moon inside of them which was in turn filled with a collection of rainbow beads. On the outside of the hoop, a series of different coloured strings were tied to add even more movement to this pair. As there were three independent parts to these earrings it really added a lot of energy, movement, drama and campiness whenever you wear them! They were almost sixties-inspired but contemporary enough to not look out of place in a bold outfit!

Overall, this is a company that is clearly a great supporter of the LGBTQ+ community that would be fantastic for any aspiring drag performers! The jewellery is well made and is a perfect statement piece to add a bit of pride and energy into any outfit. I would rate them 4.5 out of 5 stars and encourage anyone looking for there next pride accessory to check out Luna Aqulia on social media!
