I’m a Geek shop – Product Review

I initially created the Rhys Reviews blog as a method of shining a light on new and emerging musicals from all over the world. Throughout the journey, however, we started to offer product reviews which are something I would never have imagined I would be doing! The main purpose behind both the theatre and product reviews are fundamentally the same, to promote the works of people who have spent endless amounts of time and effort to create. This review of a selection of products sent from “I’m a geeky shop” marks our fifth product review which is amazing and throughout our work have discovered some wonderful products and companies that deserve more praise/exposure than they currently get! The other fundamental idea behind Rhys Reviews is to encourage people to be proud to be who they are! We want to create a space where people can celebrate the things they truly enjoy rather than keep them a secret which is why we generally love the products available at “I’m a geeky store.” People should feel confident and happy to show off and embrace their favourite tv shows, movies etc without fear of being judged! We were sent Harry Potter Golden Snitch bracelets that were super cute. If you weren’t a fan of Harry Potter you would still be able to enjoy the bracelet as it looks nice and is overtly obvious that it is a reference to the film series. However, if you are a fan then you will recognise the iconic golden snitch and will easily be able to show off how much of a fan you are!

The other items we were sent were wonderful earrings the first shaped like ice lollies and the other like Coca-Cola bottles. This is my second earrings review the first being for a company called Starry Llama (which is available at https://rhysreviews.com/2021/04/15/starryllamagifts/) and I still face quite an important hurdle … I don’t have pierced ears! I have had to use my own sparkly earring adapters so that they can be used as clip ons rather than needing pierced ears! This obviously means that while the earrings are the same for order the glittery circle adapters are not included or endorsed by the company themselves. The cost of these items is just £4 each with a flat rate of £1.50 delivery on all orders which is super affordable and adds a bit of fun to any outfit without it being overpowering. The delivery was insanely quick (in fact I ordered them one day and the next they arrived via first class post) and the bright colours were really fun to look at. Both sets of earrings are just above the size of a 5p pence with the ice lollies being slightly bigger. The hooks attached to the product are long enough to add a little bit of movement to the earrings which were great fun and further added to the whimsy of the product.

In real life, I am a massive fan of fizzy drinks with coke being one of my personal favourites. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t try some form of pop (which is somewhat of a problem I suppose) so I enjoyed the chance to show off one of my own personal loves. My only concern was how small the coke bottle earrings were as there are so many small details on the real-life product and so due to the size, the earrings are very difficult to easily see and in some senses photograph! The ice lollies are a perfect addition to any outfit especially right now while going through the heatwave we, in the UK, are currently going through! I thought that have plastic ice lollies on my ears would channel some cold feelings via some weird hybrid of positive manifestation/osmosis which it did not, but this would be impossible!

Overall these are super fun and quirky products that encourage people to embrace who they are celebrating the things they love. They are incredibly affordable with insanely fast delivery with some very fun and quirky designs. I would rate these products 4.5 stars out of 5 and would recommend them to those looking to add a bit of whimsy to a fancy dress event/party!
