Now I’m not really sure when or how it started but for the past couple of years there is nothing that makes me more productive that whacking on the recording of Help I Sexted my Boss by Jordan North and William Hanson. The two hosts are not your usual agony aunts as they try and solve some of the most outrageous and at times outlandish trials and trepidations with their contrasting perspectives. While they seem to have a fantastic rapport with each other on the recordings , it is in the live shows where truly excel! It is clear that these are two people who love working together as the joy radiated from the stage and permeates into the audience. From acknowledge the collection of missed cues , to unexpected jokes to long-running inside jokes , it is clear that these two fantastic people enjoy each other company and working together brings out the best of each other! The livestream itself is structured similarity to how a online episode usually is. The whole show starts a very familiar speal about how they aren’t a normal advice podcast , listing the accomplishments of each author , the classic I’m more/your more (this iteration specifically was I’m more west end your more dead end which was brilliant) , two presenters talking about what they have been up to recently and the show ending with the viewers dilemmas.

What is particularly unique about Help I sexted my boss as an entity is the fact that on top of offering some useful pieces of advice to listeners, the team have also created there own little world that flawlessly translates to the stage environment. Throughout the podcast we are introduced to a plethora of characters (usually via a Jordan North impression) that are usually based on a real-life people complete with a series of iconic catchphrases. These caractures are them brought to life during the stage show where we saw virtual appearances of William’s Mum and dads , a live portrayal of Mickey (William’s real-life husband) , the stage debut of camp man and a series of appearances by multiple personas of producer Ben. On top of creating a world of fantastical characters Sexted have also crafted season long storylines that reached their pinnacle during the live show such as the over-promotion of their book , the running joke of Jordan being fired from his previous job , the hilarious story of William being sent to prison in Switzerland and most importantly (in my opinion) we saw the highly controversial Guinness that is teased most episodes. All these nods to the podcast itself means that long time followers feel as if they are being rewarded for being long time fans which not only means that get something extra from the show but also means that the event is constantly promoting the podcast itself as people don’t want to feel left out!

As this was a staged version of the podcast , the extra space allows our Jordan and William to do things they would not normal be able to do. The show opens with William going into the audience to chat with some key audience members which showcased how witty and clever William is as he was able to quickly and hilariously joke with audience members. One of my personal highlights from this entire event was when the usually uptight William Hansen lead a unique rendition of “Go west” dedicated to the duos signature drink gin and debouet. While I can’t give to much away about this sequence , I think that fans need to keep a close eye on the choice of costumes used in this routine as they do pay an effective homage to the original singers of this song the village people. Another one of my favourite parts saw Jordon and William bring on two guests for a relationship MOT. This was supposed to function as safe space for the couple to strength the relationship however quickly turned into a place to reveal secrets and air dirty laundry. The two hilarious men talked about what about their partner annoys them the most , what do they think they do well but don’t and what do you wish their partner did more on the bedroom which led to a series of hilarious and unexpected responses. For taking part in the sketch , the couple were awarded a plethora of unique gifts with one of which being a prize that has been talked about multiple times on the sexted podcast! Despite being a relative new environment for both performers , Jordan was able to play to his strengths as he attempted to tutor William on how to be an effective DJ. After a quick-fire introduction to the sections of Djing (and a plethora of hilarious jokes scattered throughout for good measure!) William delivered a rather unique radio host performance that was so uniquely William and the audience absolutely loved!

Overall , Help I Sexted my boss live was a fabulous celebration of the world the podcast has spend the last six years creating. The format was exactly the same as every podcast episode with some exciting twists to mark such a special event. It is clear that Jordan and William love working alongside each other as the joy is overwhelming throughout. This is two best friends having fun while thousands of people watch along. Obviously this is the perfect event for anyone who that is a follower of the podcast but newbies will also be able to enjoy the flamboyance fun shared by two best friends! While I think the cinema screening price was somewhat experience , I think that this show was the sort of camp fun that I personally really enjoy while paying homage to the fundamentals that made sexted such a successful podcast! I would rate this event 4 .5 stars out of 5!
